The
Cobb & Co. Horse and Coach service was a key factor in the establishment of Glasshouse Mountains Township. Many Australian towns got their start this way as Cobb & Co. travellers, drivers and horses all needed to be serviced with refreshments and accommodation.
The train line from Caboolture to Landsborough was opened on the 1st of February 1890. This replaced the existing Cobb and Co. coach service that had been travelling from Brisbane to Maryborough three times a week since 1868.
The train service changed to diesel and electric in the 1960's.
Farming has been the prime business of the area, Pineapples, Strawberries, Macadamia Nuts, Citrus Fruits, Turf, Tobacco and Plantation Pine feature among the long list of produce.
The business centre caters to the local population and tourists alike, so you can be sure of competitive pricing.
